Bad day

@ 11:37 PM (39 months, 25 days ago)

Still Pete writing, I'm about to go and pick up Sue from her gathering. I stayed in a lovely campsite right on the beach at Mount Maunganui, near Taronga, with some hot salt water pools next to it and some pretty good surf on the beach. I lazed in the hot pools for an hour, then had a coffee in a sports bar watching rugby on the big screen and reflecting that it wasn't such fun as the Pa rugby I'd watched earlier. There I'd watched the Maoris beat the hell out of eachother for an hour, then line up to Hongi (nose-kiss) eachother at the final whistle.

I had to be off site by 10 am this morning, and it was daylight saving chage last night, so I found myself rushing. I drove off to the local surf shop to buy myself some short fins (flippers) for use with my boogie board. Bought the fins, then realised I'd left the board under the camper, where I kept it overnight. I rushed back, and the cleaner in the site office had found the board and leaned it against her cleaning cupboard door only 5 minutes before. But when we looked it was gone, we searched the site, asking campers, I drove up and down the beach, but no luck. The woman cleaner promised to keep looking, she reckoned kids come on site and take stuff, she'd lost her radio last week. finally I had to leave to come to Taupo, but I feel so bad. Lost Alan's board, it really spoilt my day, bit of a reality check for me, I was putting NZ on a pedestal.

So I have my fins, but no board, before I had the board but no fins....when will it come together. Then I hear the news about the bombing in Bali, and I feel bad for feeling bad about the board. Bad day.

  1. Hello Dad. Just thought I would try to leave a comment here as I haven't done yet. Very sorry to hear the board got stolen. I just read about a week of blog entries though, and everything else sounded great, up to this point... whether that makes it worse or not so bad I don't know. I hope you cheer up again soon. New Zealand still sounds mostly amazing, anyway...

  2. Fans of the iconic VW Golf range will have to wait with bated breaths, as the appearance of the the Golf VI is likely to be postponed. An interview with VW’s head of development Ulrich Hackenburg at the Shanghai Show established that VW’s best seller will not be replaced next spring as per original plans. Apparently, the current Golf V is still selling well and there isn’t sufficient reason to effect a hasty replacement.
However, new VW head Martin Winterkorn was not pleased with the Golf VI’s design and rescheduled the 2008 Geneva Show premiere of the car. He is said to have ordered a complete redesign. The latest addition to Golf’s long lineage seems due for launch sometime in the later months of 2008. According to Hackenburg, the new Golf will utilize an updated version of Audi’s current 160Hp 1.8 Litre plus an amazing Volvo Fuel Injectors and other VW accessories. Turbocharged FSI mill, most likely with a GT badge, as word suggests that VW plans halting the production of the 170Hp 1.4TSI motor due to reliability problems. The Golf VI GTI is likely to use an upgraded version of the current 2.0 TFSI motor. An SUV variant of the Golf is rumoured to be planned for introduction in the new lineup.
